The St. Peter’s Parish Choir has gladly served the community throughout the long history of our parish.
We hope that you might consider joining the Parish Choir and helping to raise minds and hearts to God through the beauty of Liturgical Music.
The Parish Choir is always welcoming new members. If you are interested, please contact the Director of Sacred Music, Claire McCarthy, or call the parish office.
The St. Peter's Choir rehearses half an hour before Mass and once a month at 8:45 in the choir loft. They sing at the 10:00 AM Mass each Sunday as well as for other special liturgies and parish events.

After spending many years in the pews (and aisles) of parishes with her husband and their two small and lively sons, wishing she could join the choir, Allison Salerno joined with her younger son, now a teenager, in 2014. She finds singing spiritually fulfilling and she also is enjoying the making new friends among the choristers. By day, she works as a teacher of students with disabilities at Parsippany Hills High School in Morris County. She and her husband, Greg Trevor, senior director of Media Relations at Rutgers, live in Highland Park.
I have been a cantor at St. Peter's since January 2017. I first stepped foot on the choir loft of St. Peter's my senior year of high school in March 2011, after being invited to sing by a student whom I met earlier during my tour of the Catholic Center. This simple, unexpected invitation allowed me to experience the vividness of the liturgy that was very attractive and life-giving, as I watched many people authentically and reverently pray through the hymns and psalms of the mass. I knew that this was something that I wanted to be a part of. Therefore, when I pursued my Civil Engineering degree at Rutgers University the next four years, I participated in the music ministry at the Catholic Student Association campus masses and the St. Peter’s services. I am deeply humbled by the gift to share the liturgy with all of you through music. I pray that we may continue to be drawn to God's gracious love and as we praise Him together! "Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things." - Psalm 98
Music has always been one of my passions, and I feel so blessed to be able to share it with the St. Peters community. I am a classically trained vocalist and have been serving as a cantor at St. Peters for two years now. Cantoring has brought me friendship, fellowship, and a sense of belonging in our church community, all while strengthening my relationship with God. When not singing, I am an elementary special education teacher of students with autism spectrum disorder, as well as a sculpture and fiber artist, and an avid book reader. Music has a unique ability to unite us all, and in a time where we need it most, I pray that we continue to find strength and unity in God and through our music ministry.
Hello! My name is Mike and I have been a cantor for almost a year at St. Peter's Parish! I have been attending St Peter's since 2017 and I am glad to be part of this faith community here in New Brunswick. I first stepped into the choir loft during the lockdowns because I had more free time and I wanted to share my gift of singing to our community. I love to share this great gift that God has given to me to all of you here at St. Peter's. I pray that everyone who enters this church can be filled with joy, peace and awe as they come to worship the living God who is our Father in heaven. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." -Matthew 5:16
